Meet the founder of our school, Professor John Shipley.

          John began training in DanZan Ryu Jujitsu at the Bushidokan Martial Arts School in the year 1985 in Sparks, NV under Professor Herb LaGue who is his Sensei and head of the Bushidokan Federation.  John was awarded an International rank of Hachidan (8th Degree black belt) and given the title of Shihan, Professor with the Bushidokan Federation in 2021.

           Starting in 1972 John studied Goju Ryu Karate and trained under Sensei Art Bedway at the Goju Kai in Weirton, WV.  In 1978 he receive his Shodan (First Degree black belt).

          Other martial arts that he studied in include Iaido (Samurai Sword), Tai Chi and Shotokan Karate.

          Professor Shipley was also featured in Martial Arts Masters Hall of fame, “The World’s Greatest”,  Volume 17 by Ted Gambordella and shown below.

                           Continuing the legacy of the Koshinkan Martial arts school

                       On April 1st, Brad Warren opened the Koshinkan Academy at 1525 W. Williams Ave., in Fallon.

               Professor

       Richard Heuston

Started training at the Bushidokan Martial Arts School in 1985 where Professor Shipley started training in jujitsu.  He transferred training to the Koshinkan in 2001. Prof. Heuston is a Shichidan (7th Degree Black Belt).

 

               Professor

            Tim Walden

Began training at the Koshinkan in 1997. He received title of Godan, Professor (5th Degree Black Belt) in 2017. Prof. Walden is also Regional Director for the  Bushidokan Federation.

               

           Denise Shipley

Started training at the Koshinkan in 2003.  In 2018 she received the title of  Yodan, Sr. Master (4th Degree Black Belt).  Denise  also teaches Women Assault Prevention classes periodically for the Fallon Community. Last but certainly not least, she is Professor Shipley’s wife.

 
 

         Dustan Drinkut

Dustan began his training in 2003. Dustan achieved the rank of Yodan, Senior Master, (4th Degree Black Belt), in 2021.  

             Kyle Walden

Kyle started training in the Youth class in 1997.  He transitioned to the adult class and in 2007 became the Koshinkan’s youngest person to achieve the rank of Shodan, (First Degree Black Belt), at the age of 15. He currently holds the rank of Sandan, (3rd Degree Black Belt). 

 
 
 

             Guy Joephs

Guy began training in 2005 and achieved the rank of Sandan, (3rd Degree Black Belt) in 2018. 

            Brad Warren 

Brad started training in 2016 and received the rank of Shodan (1rst Degree Black Belt) in 2021.
